Not losing weight

Hey everyone! I'm fairly new to myfitnesspal and I have enjoyed it so far. I think I am going on week 4. My biggest problem though is that I haven't really been losing weight. I think that I may be in "starvation" mode. Also, today I did my measurements and I up or the same. Im really starting to get discouraged. Any advice or ideas?

Looking at your diary, I would suggest you make sure you eat all your exercise calories. Your body needs them when you work out for sure. Also , try to eat cleaner and leaner. Less processed foods, they are high in sodium. Hope that helps.0

Hey! Just looked through your food diary a little bit. My gut reaction is that you 1) need to look at your sodium, since you eat a lot of bought out and pre-packaged foods, 2) up your fresh fruits and veggies a-lot, and 3) Stop skipping meals! You need to eat to lose weight quickly, and eating 600-700 calories in a day isn't enough for your body. Also, long spaces between meals slows your metabolism. Finally, try to log every day, I noticed some empty days. Good luck!0

My guess is that you're not recording everything you're eating... there are huge holes in your food diary. Record everything, it really does help, even if you aren't trying to reduce calories. Eat more protein, it sticks with you better than empty carbs. Stop eating crap. Cookies, soda, chips, crackers.. you might as well staple them to your hips.
If you like yogurt, try greek yogurt.. it has a ton of protein for the calories, and it almost feels like you're having a junky snack, when you're really not.
Have a lot of meat with lunch - I usually have 4 ounces of deli meat with my sandwich at lunch. It really sticks with you, and many deli meats are low in fat (but high in sodium, unfortunately). Try to skip sweets for a week, and replace them with fresh fruit like apples, bananas, or oranges. A whole fruit is usually like 80-110 calories and is way better for you than cookies etc.0 -
Are you recording EVERYTHING in your food diary? If so, you need to eat more.
Are you accurately recording your water? If so, you need to drink more.
On some days you are recording around 700 calories. That is bad. If this is a habit, read this article to see why you can't lose weight this way:

Check your exercise calories - you're entering large amounts of calories burned for exercise. Two hours of non-competitive volleyball might be 100 or so cals, for example (the vast majority of time "playing" volleyball is standing around, right?)
Calorie tracking is rife with error, both calories in and calories burned. If you're a couple of hundred calories off, that could make the difference between losing weight and staying the same.
Second point - weigh everything that has calories that you swallow.
Third - weigh every day.
When I started losing weight, I was 'too old" (54) and did everything wrong (I used a low calorie diet).

I know my diet worked for me and, according to the doctors and nurses and trainers who have looked at my body and read my tests results, my outcome was "superb".
Here's a challenge - go back to my diary of about a year ago, eat the same portions I did and do the same exercise and see what happens. What have you got to lose? :-)0 -

Even so, I'm not sure recommending a 1000 calorie a day (average) diet is a great thing to do.0 -
Thank you everyone for your ideas and suggestions. I know that the calories have to be off... both with workouts and food calories. First I don't add my fruits and veggies or all of my water. I usualy don't drink soda, figures I would in the last few days. But I drink A LOT of coffee. As for the workouts...i.e. I did a 9 hour volleyball tourny and only put down 5 hours. I literly was sweating we were playing so hard. Plus when I had down time I was dancing, jumping and stretching to stay "warm". But I realize that the calories burned couldn't be completely accurate...so that is why I had soooo many remaining calories. I have also been doing Insanity, P90X (half hour) and Turbo Fire (20 minute HIT)...sometimes all in one day, but I have no idea where it falls under. So I just put something similar...if I record it at all. Believe me...I always go to bed hungry because I'm afraid that I've eaten too much. I guess I'll be better about entering everything I eat and try to eat small meals through out the day. Maybe that is the ticket?0

The article was very helpful! Today I didn't workout nearly as hard as I have in the past because my neck is sore...and I ate A LOT more. Lets see how this week goes! I'll work hard at eating small meals...keep working out... fingers crossed that I see results.
Thanks again everyone!!!!0
