Hi everyone,
I'm 25 years old and I have an active two year old daughter. She keeps me busy, however we live in an apartment and staying fit in a cramped area is difficult especially on rainy days. I was an all western mass athlete and weighed 165 my whole highschool career. Now i'm a shocking 212. Any advice on how to get back in shape would be very appreciated.

Truely,
Dad

Stick you little one in a wagon and take a walk......my kids LOVED that when they were little. If she still takes naps, get a DVD and do it then. You could also check into some area Parks and Recreation programs. A lot of them have classes for fitness and corresponding classes for little ones also. My son did that when he was too little for preschool (he is 17 now).
  • I invested in a treadmill and use it when it isn't nice enough to walk. I watch my favorite shows on-line while my daughter naps and I walk. When it is nice outside, I put my 4 year old in a jogging stroller and push her uphills, it is quite a workout. Sometimes she is a bit crabby, so I give her a snack to bring along and talk to her about the things we see.

Hey bcallen9 - joining this website is a great start for you.

Take it one day at a time, remember to post your food intake and your excercise daily. Just looking at the numbers will help you a lot to adjust your intake to match your burn rate and reach your goals. I'm sure your precious daughter takes a nap during the day and that was how I got my workouts in when my kids were small.

Apartment living is tough for excercise I know. I remember having to move furniture and then worry about the people that lived below me when I wanted to do an aerobics video. If you can time it right, there are a couple of kids dvd's out that you could do with your daughter. They include jumping, twirling, and some "kids" dancing type moves. They a lot of fun and you burn calories interacting with the kids.

Commit to change and you'll succeed.

    Many Blessings
    Nita

Is joining a gym an option?
My gym has a daycare.....so they watch the kids while I work out. They will only watch them about two hours at a time, but that is usually enough for my work out.
