I am going out of town this weekend with my mom. I thought about upping my calories to maintenance so that I don't feel deprived when we eat out. However, I am really worried I do not want to gain any weight. For the record I don't plan on going crazy and I don't drink alchol so that want be a problem. What advice do you give. I work out at least three times a week for at least thirty minutes right now it is mainly cardio. I don't have a gym membership and right now cant afford one. I do have a weight machiine at home but not sure how to get started on it we bought it for my son several years ago has about 250 pounds of weights on it. It has over head pull leg lifts, and arm curls. Any advice would be great it is Weilder but can't remember model number.

It takes 3500 calories above what you are normally eating (assuming you're doing weight loss) to gain a pound. You might gain 'ghost weight' (water retention mostly) but it will not be real weight.
If you work your body to the bone before hand and then eat a lot- your body WILL keep hold of this new fuel because you've starved it for the days leading up to the 'feast'.
Just eat normal, exercise normal and don't go crazy with the food. We didn't gain weight from one day of bad food choices.0 -
I can understand! I'm always afraid to up the calories on break as I know I have trouble getting back to the plan after I indulge. BUT....:)....I have realized in the past that if I watch what I eat, relax and enjoy overdoing the healthy, allowable food and not some oversweet fat-laden goody, I do get back on the wagon better. I usually gain a little after break, but a lot of that will go away the next week. I hope you have a great vacation and enjoy!!! Best of luck and enjoy your time with your Mom.0

Please do not worry about extra calories. I was worried going up to maintenance and never gained a thing. Even when I do indulge i still dont gain. So enjoy - your body will adjust x0
