need ENERGY for my run tonight.. help

i plan on running 2 miles.. might not seem like alot but to me it is as i just got into running. however i don't have any energy after school. would love to know what drinks or anything you recommend besides food/carbs for energy??

    At the risk of asking the obvious.....what's wrong with food/carbs for energy?

    Don't knock 2 miles - if you're a new runner and can do 2 miles you're off to a good start.

    When I need energy for a run but don't want to use a lot of calories, I'll eat half a packet of GU energy gel (50 calories) about 15-30 mins before.

    Food is fuel for your body...

    Eat something.

    Besides, your run is going to be burning calories - it's not like you can't "afford" to spend a few calories on a snack.

    You need to eat carbs to activate your glycogen stores... eating them before a workout maximizes what you get out of it. Do it the right way; it will pay off!
