HELPPPPP!

I just got diagnosed with both mono and tonsillitis.....and i have to be on a basic liquid/soft diet for the tonsils. Jello....popsicles....soup are suggested kind of thing. I have made so much progress this far though that i'm afraid with all the rest I need to do, I am gonna go back in my progress!

Sugesstions of some different foods and interesting varieties to eat with this kind of diet? THink HEALTHY......lol And any suggestions in general??

    applesauce, oatmeal, yogurt

I had mono and tonsillitis not long ago... originally misdiagnosed for strep... and I was still allowed to eat anything I wanted... I was sore for awhile but soft foods were ok... like bread with peanut butter, pasta, things like that that are solids but are generally soft.

Just please stay away from working out until doc says its ok, the risk of a ruptured spleen is very very real :noway:

good luck, feel better soon! :flowerforyou:

Take care of yourself, eat whatever you can get down. I had strep that turned into tonsillitis, and then a peritonsillar abscess. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy. When your body is sick it needs all the food it can use to fight off the infection.

    God speed.

never had either, but I just went through surgery on my throat, I eat really soft foods, and most things cand be blended soft enough to eat, chicken breast pureed with stock, noodles are pretty good too, pudding, fruits I make into shakes, I freeze my pudding cups as well as yogurt cups, so I get the relief from the pain when I need something cold, I can manage cream of wheat which is really high in iron, which i did not know, but gotta add honey or something to sweeten it up its pretty bland on its own, any low sodium soups, my hubby bangs out a great roaster red pepper and tomatoe soup.

I used to get tonsillitis all the time, I finally has my tonsils taken out when I was about ur age. I couldn't even eat, I was so sick, I always lost weight, but gained it back when I got better. I used to eat pretty much just chicken broth. The most important thing to do is just to rest and get better and not worry about gaining or losing, just keep urself hydrated!

to quote Romy and Michelle "having mono was like the best diet ever"

I think you're ok hun, the ruptured spleen thing was directed towards the mono. An enlarged spleen is pretty common with mono, and it's very possible to rupture it with strenuous activity. I was on my butt for over 3 weeks :grumble:

OMG that must have been so bad, Kerri. I didnt work as hard as I usally do and the funny thing is I burned more calories. I just love the human body:huh:

But you know, I should have done some research before jumping back into the gym. Informed is always best!!
