I'm having a little trouble getting around the suggestions put forth by the food diary.

I'm always behind on calories and carbs, but wayyy ahead on protein and a little bit beyond my fat intake. Every time I look at it, I'm worried that I'm messing up my weight loss. But I'm not about to replace the little meat in my diet with bread instead!

I am aware that you can change the settings. However, I am no nutritionist, not by a long shot. Does anyone have a plan that's working for them with a higher protein intake and lower carb intake?

    I am doing 40% protein/ 40% carbs/ 20% fat

Don't be afraid of carbs your body uses them for fuel just eat better carbs- Like complex and not the simple ones-

There are other ways you can split your macro nutrients up though
  • Oh, I'm not afraid of carbs. I just don't tend to eat too many of them, besides in fruit.

Not much of a grains person. I prefer veggies!

it's okay to go over on protein, MFP has it set low.
it's okay to go over on sugar, if it coming from fruit, not twinkies:wink:
it's okay to do your best, stick to your personal plan and goals, and do what you know is working for you:flowerforyou:

I agree with Lucky, you do your best... and if it works, don't worry about it.

I have mine set at 40 carbs 30 protein 30 fat. To be honest, on the days that I consume a lot of healthy fats, I feel great and tend to weigh less the next day. Fat is my friend. Each of us has a different metabolism and what works for some won't work for others. Some people do better on a lower fat, higher carb diet. To each their own.

If you're eating lots of veggies, don't worry too much if your carb intake is a little low. How do you feel about oatmeal or wild rice? Both are fabulous whole grains that don't come in the form of "bread." You can throw literally any meat and veggie on a bed of wild rice!

Watch the fruits that are high in glycemic index- some are so high they equal eating a candy bar
same goes with some veggies- corn isn't a good vegetable

corn is better than french fries. or twinkies.

if you eat a richly varied diet, you can have corn.

Yes its better than a sugar packed Twinkie (I don't eat them anyway lol)
Corn is packed with starch and your body digests it faster than other veggies--
I eat Sweet Potato fries instead of French Fries- So much better and better for you.

    I agree. I also don't eat twinkies, I'm afraid they'll turn me into a murderer ( J/K)

the post sounded like corn was an off-limits item, so I was responding to that.

if you eat too much of any certain food, you'll lack balance. corn is ok in the same way as fruit juice is ok. it is high in sugars, so you just pay attention to the rest of that day's foods so you aren't completely unbalanced.:drinker: :flowerforyou:

I focus alot on Glycemic index foods I only want the lower ones cause those are the ones that take longer to digest--

So when I found that out I actually don't eat corn anymore I thought corn was fine considering it has no valuable nutrients guess that backfired on me lol..
