Curious...

I am just curious, and have no motive behind this question. Why are you here?
Are you trying to lose weight and like the "program " that this site has or do you like it because of the ease of food and exercise tracking?
Are you just passionate about nutrition and exercise and like the forums?
I think of these kinds of questions when I read replies and I think it would be interesting to know what MFP has either done for you or why you like it so much.

I happened on MFP late Dec - it was similiar to WW online - and I was needing something to track my food. MFP is free and for some reason I have really gotten into it. I could never really get into the WW online site. Here - I easily can track my food and exericise and chat with others that really do truely understand the issues of weight loss. I really like MFP and have told many people about it. I would like to be passionate aobut nutrition and exercise and hope to be some day.0

I'm here for weight loss and the food/exercise tracking. It helps keep me on track.
Having online friends for support is wonderful too.0 -
I started here because it was a great way to track food and exercise, and the program is easy to use and helpful. Finding a community here has been a pleasant surprise.0

I am here to lose weight until I achieve my goal. No timelines. No deadlines. No pressure. Only dedication.
I aim not to -
- lose it fast.
- lose it better than anyone else
- lose it because I feel like its a choice
I'm here out of respect for the body God gave me I don't want to push myself into an early grave and waste the gift of life He's given me.0 -
For weight gain. The calorie counter attracted me. Everything else is just a bonus (based on my needs).0

i started for the calorie counter to help me lose weight but it has really kept me going and i dont get off track as bad as before because i have the support of all the people on here which is AWESOME when ppl around you at home might not push, encourage, support, or motivate you.0
-
I started this to keep track off my calorie intake, then I realized you can add friends I love it & all the support I have from MFPals makes my goal weight much easier to reach(:0

I joined b/c of the calorie counter with the exercise tracker. I was looking for a way to keep it all in one neat place without having to sit there and mess with the numbers myself. I know that seems lazy, and it really is, but I'm also terrible at math and I know I'd mess it all up. I know it's easy basic math but never doubt my ability to throw a wrench in it somehow. I really like it here because of the support, information and the success stories. I have support here at home, but I'm the only one going through this here, and it helps me feel not as alone going through this.0

for me it started with the bigggest loser competition at work... then started thinking about my pregnant with and my baby i got more motivated ..0

I love MFP because it's easy to log exercise and food, it encourages me to be healthier, and even though I'm young, it's opened my eyes to the danger (for lack of a better word) of a lot of food we encounter daily. It's taught me about BMR, BMI, etc. and just with this information alone I've gained so much. It was honestly just a great life lesson that I intend to carry on with me even after I feel content with my body. Originally, I found myself on MFP to shed excess fat and gain muscle so that I could feel good about myself, but I know that even when i reach my goals I will stay with MFP and strive to be as healthy as possible. MFP makes me want to make good choices. So I love it and I love the support from the community0

"I HAVE NO PLACE ELSE TO GO!" (An Officer and a Gentleman)
Initially, it was weight loss, but now it is fitness. Also, I have made some amazing friends here, and would miss them terribly if they weren't in my life.0 -
I came on here for my last 11 lbs. I like the food / exercise tracking, but I wish the search function for foods extended to what foods I have used, rather than having to search the database or go back through my foods.
I really like the support system here, and the accountability thing is pretty good too.0 -

I know what you mean! From the date under my picture you can see that I found this site a long time ago, but I didn't really get into it until I started adding friends and reading the forums.
Good stuff!0 -
I just like reading all the questions...sometimes it gives me food for thought. Sometimes I'll research or try something that might make a difference in my journey. I love success stories...great inspiration for me!
Otherwise I follow my own plan, look up my own calories and keep a paper journal...so I don't utilize the food database. But I do use the MFP calorie calculator and love my ticker ;-)0 -
I love the extra validation that comes with having friends on here...just a "woohoo!" can make me feel great all day when I post a weight loss. It also keeps me motivated to see other people logging losses and eating well, and I feel guiltier if I think about giving up or eating something I know isn't good for me.
I also love the huge database this site has. Other sites don't have as big of a range in terms of food you can look up, so I really like that. And I like the ease of knowing how much protein I'm taking in, sodium, etc. It's all helped me a ton.0 -
I like the calorie and food tracking. Its a lot better than writing everything down in a notebook like i used to do. The forums I just go through them when I'm bored.0

I learned about MFP through reading another persons blog online. They mentioned it in their blog and I have been hooked ever since. I love it. I have lost 9 lbs so far.0
-
Lose weight and gain strength. I also love the forums because everyone's super cool on it and I get motivated from everyone.0

Started for the weight loss.. Loved the easiness of looking up the food and exercise.. Got addicted to the forums lol0

I came here because of the food logging. Using a notebook got old. Then I made a bunch of truly amazing friends on here.0

I joined because I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and needed some place to track what I was eating. I love the site and am just now hooking up with some MFP friends. Can't wait to see more progress on my tracker. Wish I would have found this last July. It really helps me see what I'm eating and what I shouldn't be eating. Works the best if you are really honest about everything.0

I found MFP while looking for a food journal tool. I had tried a basic app that was terrible, saw a reference to MFP during my search and joined in. I really like the logging functions (most of the time...) and I like reading the forums because I learn more and I gain encouragement for some really neat discussions I've read here. I've definitely recommended MFP to a load of people in the few weeks I've been using it...0

I like the ease of tracking food & exercise. And I like the forums, though at times they make me cringe with all the pseudo-science and misinformation.0
