I know this is an old post - but I have been in the EDM scene since 1999 and watched it get big, then pretty much die out, then explode into something huge in the last few years.

I live in Des Moines, IA and have partied here and also in many major cities, Minneapolis, KC, Chicago, Madrid ES, Dublin, Amsterdam, Ibiza. I typically go to at least 1 EDM event per week, sometimes more.

Best of all at one show I dance for hours and hours and burn tons of calories - so it really helps out with fitness too.

I like pretty much all types of EDM, here is a list of what i listen to in preference order. Hardcore/Hardstyle , Hard House, Techno, Dubstep (good dubstep though - not just skrillex), Trance, House, Ambient, and so on and so on - so many new sub-genres etc.

I have a couple big shows left for this summer, Dieselboy, illgates, JackTrash all coming to Des Moines in the next month or so, then SummerSet Music festival (3 day) in Summerset, WI - Pretty Lights, Umphree McGee, Big Gigantic, Excision, Zeds Dead, Mimosa, Infected Mushroom, and many many more.
