So I've started back on here on 1st march, starting weight of 297, and since then, I'm 5lbs down (weight in on Fridays)

My ultimate goal is to lose 113lbs by 1st march 2014

I have a few underlying health conditions, and cant really afford gym memberships at the moment, but am determined to get out walking a bit when weather is better (Northern Ireland weather can be really bad)

so, 113lbs in 104 weeks - is this do-able without the major gym workouts and running 5k?

According to a calculator I just used, it would take until July 2014 to reach your goal with little exercise and eating 1920 calories a day.

Also, it says that 113 lbs lbs will make you under weight and you should aim for 166 lbs to be healthy.

    I hope this helps!

That's just over 1lb so it's doable. Just stick at it, try not to think or put pressure on getting to that exact number. You will get there or somewhere close just take it one week at a time.

Make sure you get in exercise when you can. I'm recovering from having a tumour embolised so I'm doing a bit at a time, I've been building up over weeks. Fitness.tv has some workouts online you can follow for free.

Be positive and stick at it!

It may be. I would start to incorporate pushups and sit ups. Also, you can youtube exercise routines that you don't need weights. Heck, if you haven't seen it before, good insanity by Shaun T. The whole routine is based on utilizing body weight to burn fat. Your plan is doable or close to it.

Do you mean 2013 or 2014?

104 weeks should be quite achievable.

It is doable, however I wouldn't get hung up on a time table. Weight loss isn't linear and you will not be consistently losing the same amount every week. Losses will slow, particularly near the end as you get lighter. You also can't account for plateaus that may or may not happen. It is much easier to view it in mini-goals. Take it 10 pounds at a time- first focus on getting to the 280s, then 270s, then 260s, etc. It is easy to get lost in the "big picture" scenario.

I've seen lots of people on here lose that much in a year, but I honestly don't think it's realistic to expect that. I started at 277 and it's taken me 13.5 months to lose 81 pounds. You have to realize you won't lose every week, you won't lose the same amount every week, and you will hit plateaus. That being said, if you do strength training you will notice a bigger physical difference in a year than the weight loss probably. Whenever I get on a losing streak, say I lose 3lbs one week and the next I lose 2.5, I always tell myself if I can keep losing this much every week, then I'll be this weight by this date. Next thing I know, two more weeks have gone by and I didn't lose anything at all. You just have to be thankful for every pound that comes off and know that after a year of hard work, you WILL be much smaller even if you haven't met your goal. I get so upset with myself that I'm not at my goal already, but at the same time, I'm so happy I stuck with it and know I've made a change for life. Not only that, but because I've been losing slowly, I'm not seeing any excess skin. Just take it one day at a time.

I think it's reasonable, but like others, don't get too worried if you don't hit that goal. You'll likely lose a lot at the beginning and then taper off. I'm a VERY slow loser, despite exercise. I am only averaging .82 lbs. per week. Some weeks I lose 2, some weeks I gain or maintain.
