Am I doing something wrong?

So I was wondering what I could do different. Before I started my life style change if I went for a walk (the very little I did), my legs would KILL ME. I thought it was just from being out of shape and over weight. Dec 29th I joined a gym and have been doing lifting and cardio. When I am at the gym doing my cardio I use the elliptical and dont have any problems with me legs hurting. Now that it is getting nicer outside I have gone for 2 walks out doors. About 5-10 minutes into my walk my legs are KILLING ME. My shines, my calves, the outer part of my legs even the outsides of the bottom of my feet hurt. Am I doing something wrong?

What kind of terrain are you walking on? When you walk outside you are on uneven ground, even if it's pavement (put a level in the middle of a street... that's not going to level up.) Your body may not be used to that and it could be a combination of the shoes that you are wearing when you are outside. It's easier to get away with bad shoes inside, but on uneven ground the wrong shoes can be a huge problem.

I suppose. The first day I walked and it was on the walking trails around my house. Then yesterday was around the parking lot of my work. I was wearing the same shoes I wore at the gym. Is there anything I can do to fix it from happening?

The impact to your body is WAY different from elliptical to even just walking. Especially on hilly terrain. Do yourself, and your legs, a favor and go get your stride evaluated (any dedicated running store can do this, either with machines or by visual/recordings, and it's free) and then buy a good pair of shoes that work for your stride and foot. A good pair of shoes can truly make all the difference in the world.

I cheaped out and got shoes from a shoe warehouse kind of store and went for a combo of color, cost and comfort. And my feet paid the price. I just recently bought new shoes and went solely on comfort. So they may have cost 2.5 times as much as any other pair of shoes I own (mind you, I buy cheap shoes from the warehouse place) and they may be fluorescent yellow and grey, but it feels like they were made to make my feet happy.
