Successful family visit

Like many of you, I have a hard time eating right at family get togethers. Well this weekend, I was home visiting the homestead for mother's day and I have successfully avoided the major pitfalls. I usually don't make a fuss about my weight loss efforts with family, but this time I spoke up. I even inspired my grandma to get a water bottle like mine to track her water intake throughout the day. For the first time, I feel like everyone is being encouraging and I think that's because I was so enthusiastic in sharing my weight loss efforts and success.

This may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but my family REALLY goes all out for holidays. Right now there is fried chicken, creamed corn, bbq ribs, potato salad, green beans, collard greens, cornbread dressing, baked ham, mac and cheese, caramel cake, key lime cake, and 48 confetti cupcakes in the kitchen right now. Not to mention the nonspecial occasion foods that are just normally in the house (AKA junk food).

The fact that I have been able to stay within my calorie range with all those tempting things within reach is nothing short of a miracle to me.

That is amazing and every home visit bring something new and healthy or make a "healthified" version of what they like and you will inspire them. Congrats!!!!

Congratulations! I try not to keep trigger foods at my house because I don't have much willpower. What a test! Great job!
