Does anyone know why it's acceptable for men to have a lower body fat percentage than women???
Just curious

Women have boobs, and men don't have periods basically.0

We need fat to support babies. If it gets too low, your body knows you can't carry a baby so it'll stop ovulating, which can mess up a lot of things since ovulation is important.0

You mean health wise right? not socially acceptable?0

We have boobies, and bigger booties.
We carry this extra fat (compared to men) so that if we are pregnant and **** goes down, we will keep the baby alive in times of famine.
Interestingly, men find boobs and big butts attractive subconsiously (and now ya, culturally) because of this (seen as "healthy" and they think will have a better chance of keeping their offspring alive). same with big shiney hair (healthy hair = you are getting good nutrition).0 -

Ditto, do you mean that men get away with more body fat by opinion?0 -

Ugh, I HATE how in the US it's kind of ok for guys to be fatties.
Just look at Family Guy. GROSS. Lois keeps it together, GET WITH IT PETER.0 -

Like others have said, women have 2 things that men (most men) don't have.
Now I don't think its more acceptable for men to be heavier. Countless studies have shown heavier men (and women) typically earn less money and get fewer promotions. However, for those who see it as more acceptable, I believe its because men are more likely to work longer hours and be the bread winner in the house. Because of the longer working hours, many people believe its "understandable" for men not to exercise or eat right.
That being said, I don't find it acceptable for anyone to be morbidly obese. Now the exception is if someone is actually trying to do something about it. Basically if I see two morbidly obese people are eating in a restaurant and one person is eating baked chicken, veggies, and water; and the other eating alfredo pasta with bread and a soda, I'm going to respect the healthier person more.0
