Steaming chicken?
So, I'm running low on groceries, the fiance is eating dinner elsewhere, and as tempting as it is just to order pizza and have a glass of wine, I think I'll try to be good :grumble:
I have the steamer bags from glad, and I know I've read recipes about steaming chicken and veggies in them, I was wondering if anyone has ever steamed chicken frozen, with veggies? And some good, quick recipes. All the help I can get will be appreciated, because I am STARVING :noway:
And, I don't have fresh veggies. I have frozen broc and spinach I know, and maybe 1/2 a fresh yellow squash. Thanks!

I would try it. I have had steamed ckn off of the stove and it turns out great, add some spices, and the juices flavor the vegies really nicely. I don't have the glad steaming bags, but I have used the steamable meals before--there is a chicken marinara that I try to keep on hand for those days I can't think of anything--They are really good!! Good luck, :flowerforyou:0

I'm not sure I would do it with the chicken frozen...your veggies might get overcooked. I think I would defrost it a little before I began steaming. Lemon pepper on chicken is really tasty. I would also add some lemon juice to add a little tartness to the veggies. A dash of red pepper flakes does wonders for many vegetables as well! Good luck0

Thanks for the tips!
I ended up steaming the chicken frozen. I put it in the bag alone, plain, and steamed for 12 minutes. Took it out, seasoned with basil, a little lime juice, garlic powder, minced garlic, and threw in half peeled sliced squash, frozen broc, baby carrots and steamed 6 minutes to make sure the chicken was done. The veggies were wonderful, the chicken was a little dry... won't steam as long next time, but, it was still pretty good. I had some leftover rice and a piece of my niece's first birthday cake :laugh:0
