Can anyone help me understand and combat my cravings? No offense men, but this might be a hormonal thing. I always love food, but some days, it is completely managable (even when I restrict my calories) and food is "no big deal". Other days, I immediately wake up salivating and IT DOES NOT SUBSIDE the ENTIRE day! It usually is accompanied with lethargy which doesn't help! I LOVE to eat and am a "many small meals" type eater... I have tons of yummy healthy snacks but NOTHING except binge eating on sweets or fatty foods seems to satiate me. Like I wont feel satisfied until I am STUFFED! Today is one of those days... I have been hungry (in my head, not my stomach) all day, and I just finished eating tons of my favorite healthy foods... I am so full but I am still CRAVING the chinese food around the corner! SOMEONE HELP PLEASE! THANKS!

  • Are you restricting yourself too much? I think some people think in the beginning that eating any sort of "dirty" or "junk" food is bad, but truthfully you can have those items still as long as you do so in moderation (and sometimes not even in moderation in my opinion.. ;) In the beginning of my healthy lifestyle I was very much addicted to sugar. Once I cut it little by little I noticed cravings subsiding. It really is all a mind thing. You basically have to learn to differentiate between hungry and just mindless/boredom eating. Distract yourself next time you feel this way! Go for a run, read a book, surf the internet etc.

Thank you... Well you know, I had some cheese, b.c I am craving fats right now.... and certain other foods that I thought would combine mindfulness with maintaining my diet... I do try to distract myself but it doesn't go away... My head is COMPLETELY occupied... It seems like no one else around me has this compuslive need to binge eat... I am 155 lbs< and usually stay around this weight with work, so I am not binge eating every day, but i would say like 1/3 of the month I am fighting this NEED to eat.... AGH!
