Hey all! Does anybody else keep a check on their blood pressure throughout their weightloss journey :-)

I did at the beginning. I had a bit of blood pressure staring off around 130/80 (sometimes 140/80)...and then I started to lose weight and 1/2 way through I was consistently reading around 115-120/80 so now i don't really check. I have heard stories from my other friends on this site that as they lost weight, their BP goes to the normal range. If you are on BP medication already, make sure as you work out that you do check your blood pressure as exercise is an agent that vasodilates your blood vessels, so your BP will go down (expecially right after a good cardio workout). So, this means that you may have to start altering your blood pressure medication. It is best to have a follow up with your doctor.0

I check my blood pressure frequently. I have been on BP meds for >4 years. My numbers were consistently in the 140's, even with medication, but now it's running in the 110's. I am going to my doctor next week to see if she wants to alter it at all. I bet she'll just have me come back in more frequently as I continue to lose.
In 2.5 months my blood pressure has dropped nearly 30 points, and my pulse has gone from the 80's to the 60's. Quite dramatic! I've lost 33 pounds, and want to lose 120 (just FYI).0 -
Personally, no.
My blood pressure has always been low to 'optimum' (LOVE it when the machine tells me that) so I don't worry about it.
If anything I tend to have too LOW blood pressure... it would be interesting to see how the weight loss and exercise changes that though I suppose.0 -
Iv never had bp issues myself, but I recall a time some time ago when it was worryingly high, just a random check, this was just before I decided to start my healthy lifestyle, I check it most days now I'm healthier and I exercise more and it always seems to be in the 'normal' range :-)0

I have extremely high bp and have been on meds for >10 years. My doctors are currently juggling various medicines trying to bring my bp under control, but they either don't work or have unwanted side effects (headaches, rashes etc). I had enough and decided to try out the dash diet after researching hypertension on the web... some friends recomended this site as a way to track sodium and calorie consumption.
I have only been here for a week, and it took a couple days to figure out how to cut sodium out of my foods. I was shocked to see that my old eating habits had me eating over 10,000mg of sodium. Now I am trying to keep under 1,500.
I am already seeing positive results in my bp. too early to celebrate, but hoping this trend stays true. On a side note, by cutting back on my sodium my calories consumption has dropped, and I know that losing weight will also help my bp.0
