Is it OK to incorporate a few glasses of wine into your diet as long as you count the calories?

Of course. Alcohol is (apparently) empty calories so it won't help you, and (also apparently) the liver burns alcohol before fat, so I doubt it will help in any way, but if you keep it in moderation and within your cals, there is no reason why you can't enjoy a treat. Red wine also apparently has useful things* in it, so not a complete waste on the nutrition front. I would not like to wake up tomorrow facing a whole life without wine, which I enjoy. Life is for living afterall, if you cut out everything enjoyable there's not much point in life!

    *Can't remember what, I'm sure it's googleable :o)

I do - some days require a glass of good wine!
  • I am a firm believer in just eating within your calorie allowance for the day. If I know I'm going to have drinks, I will adjust the rest of my meals to make room for them. I try not to make it a super often occurrence.

    This ^^^

If I am going out for a few bevvies, I always log it first and then work out the rest of my day around this. It also helps to control how many you have :drinker: x

I never gave up wine. I logged it *most* of the time :blushing: and lost 30 pounds and met my goal. I still drink it as I maintain!

I save up my exercise cals. A 3 hours walk on a saturday afternoon gives me a enough cals for a bottle & a half of wine at night.

    Wine rhymes with fine, right?

Just be aware there are studies that show that your body stops fat for 48 hours after drinking alcohol.
