I stopped drinking pop at the first of the year...going from 3-4 cans of Mt Dew a day to LOTS of water!! I've noticed that since doing that, I've had diarehea non stop! Especially if I eat anything with sugar in it...it goes right through me! Is this normal??? I'm losing weight, so that's great, but I just want to be sure that my "problem" isn't something else that I need to worry about.....

7 months ago, after 40+ years of drinking an average of 2 liters of diet pop a day, I went cold turkey off both anything with carbonated water and anything with aspertame/artifical sweetner in it . Whoever said that neither one of those substances are addicting should have hung out with me for the first week :noway:   Yes, I had diahrrea the first few days but at the time, I just attributed it to the detox process. It's quite possible that your body was detoxing and sugary stuff giving you the trots now may be your body reminding you that it doesn't particularly want that stuff in it again.0

About 7 years ago I gave up all sodas, but I don't recall having diarehea at all. It might be that your body is still flushing itself out, but it would probably be a good idea to check with your doctor just to be safe, even if it's a phone call.
But kudos to you for kicking the soda and drinking water! That is great! I wish you much more success!0 -
Could be an increase in fiber and hydration. Or, since you said it's anything with 'sugar', you might have some sensitivity to it...that just means you don't digest it well, but the bacteria in your gut do, and they can cause gassiness and diarrhea.0
