I eat as much produce as I can, buy meats w/ low or no added sodium, make things like sauces from scratch and do not add it when I cook. It takes time but you get used to it and now I really cannot eat a lot of foods because of salt. Even Gatorade is salty to me.

I don't eat tons of bread- that helps. Sodium is sneaky. I stopped buying canned food (unless specifically labelled as no salt added), but frozen and fresh mainly. Skip all lunch meats- even the 'low' sodium ones. I eat salad dressing- I'm willing to take the sodium hit if it's something I love.

For flavoring I use Morton's salt substitute or NoSalt- both are delish and potassium.

I buy frozen veggies instead of canned veggies.

I started buying no salt added tomato sauce and no salt added stewed tomatoes etc...and using it make my own spaghetti sauce, or pizza sauce, and salsa.
