Hi everyone,

I need your advice on my salad that I get in work after my gym session...

In it I have:
1 x slice of deli ham
5 x bacon slices
2 x boiled eggs
tblspn of sweetcorn w/ diced peppers
beetroot slices (a good bit)

Is this ok to have or is it majorily calorific??

i'd probably take it easy on the bacon. loaded with sodium. (if you take in a lot of sodium, that sodium will hold water in)
also, if you are a bacon lover like me, you should think about trying oscar meyer's turkey bacon. it's a little healthier, but still tastes like bacon.

also, the yolk of the egg is where the calories are. i would have maybe just the whites, or the two whites and one yolk.

What sort of dressing? And also, the bacon+ham is going to send your sodium level skyrocketing, and water retention along with it.

Ok thanks, never realised about the sodium content.

I've been so wrapped up in calories, i kinda forget about everything else!

Forgot to ask, is beetroot generally ok to have? I just recently found out that I LOVE it:flowerforyou: and usually anything that I really love tends to be bad for me  ??

Watch the sodium in the turkey bacon. Many times it's higher than regular bacon.

On the salad. I'm also wondering about the dressing. That is usually where salads go wrong. If it's olive oil based and you keep it to a reasonable amount it should be ok.
Olive oil is 120 cal a tbl but it's a good fat. But we still shouldn't go overboard with good foods either.

I just realized this weekend how much sodium is in the turkey bacon I've been eating!:indifferent:

I guess its one of those things we think is healthy but isn't completely!

Also, the calories on turkey bacon is usually just as high as regular. I have been having Hormel Black Label lower sodium bacon. Only 230 mg sodium i n two slices.
