Hello all! My name is Hannah and this will be my third time starting at MFP. Last couple times, I got totally obsessed with the numbers and ended up plateauing.. I took a break, moved to Japan and am now back. I am trying to just work out 5 days a week 3 days strength and 2 days cardio.. I also throw in some cardio on my strength days to warm up and cool down. I am also focusing on eating healthy and the right amount. I lost about 16 lbs since the first time I joined MFP and have about 30 lbs (or more depending on how I feel) left to go. I just gave up sodas except for a little that I drink when I get my migraines. I want to warn you though that I am in Japan so I may not log my food all the time (I tend to forget or I dont know what exactly is in it). I am looking for some friends that will keep me on track and not obsessing too much over the numbers.

Feel free to add me as a friend. My family loves the Japanese culture, by the way. We have some friends over there.

We just got stationed over here and absolutely love it. It is totally different from US culture but definitely has been fun to explore.

Are you on mainland or Okinawa? We just got to Japan in November and I've just started out on MFP trying to lose some weight and get into shape!

We are stationed near Tokyo. How do you like Japan? Would you mind if I added you?

You're in Japan? Lol, weight loss will be much easier then. Lots of walking and seeing people who are within normal weight does your subconscious good. Plus sushi is the bomb.

I sent you a friend request :) We love it here! Our last duty station was depressing and horrible so coming here was a really positive experience for us. The people are amazing and the food is delicious. I think coming here is what shook me out of my comfort zone.

  • My husband is going to Japan soon too. We are hoping to be able to go with him, but still don't know if we can yet...if so, it will be my first time on a base as he has been on unaccompanied orders the past 4 years. I'm so nervous/excited about it. This is my second time at this. I started October 2010 and lost 28 pounds just to gain it all back. I got too obsessive about it too and it burned me out so I just quit. I just came back Feb 20 and this time around I'm actually not counting calories at all. I'm only logging exercise and water and watching my portions while eating whole healthy foods as much as possible. That's it. I have been losing about a pound a week, which is slower than I would like given how much I have to lose, but I'm okay with it because I know this time around it's different, I'm in control, and I am making a REAL actual lifestyle change that I can continue after reaching my goal weight, which means I will keep it off. Definitely not saying there is ANYTHING wrong with counting because there isn't and it works amazingly for many people, but it just didn't work for me specifically. Feel free to add me as it sounds like we have a little in common. What branch is your husband in?
