Hi! Has anyone had any experience with PF? Are there any 'hidden' fees, setbacks, rules...anything? They have a special going on of $20 to enroll, $20/month, and an annual $35 charge. Let me know!
Thanks,
Caity

They're pretty straight forward with pricing, but on the rules side....well lets just say if you want to seriously train, PF is not the place to do it. They have a ban on making any type of noise while working out from grunting like an ape to breathing heavy. They also have a ban on any lift from the ground, which causes the weights to clang together. If your lifting weights and you need to drop the weight to avoid injury, there's a ban on that. Oh yeah...if you break any of those rules, an alarm sounds (called the Lunk Alarm), calling attention of the entire gym to you and you could be escorted out of the gym.
Now if you just want a place with a threadmill, its cheaper than most places. Oh yeah, don't forget pizza night and bagel breakfast days, not to mention the free candy they keep at the front desk they brag about giving out.0 -
Never been but Ive heard the stories. It probably rings true, you get what you pay for.0

I work nights and I'm cheap, so PF works out great for me.0

lemme just say: overall good experience for how much it costs. no personal training/ classes, just machines.
lemme also just say they charged me 70$ for a "once a year cost" and put me under at my bank. plus over draft fee. then trying to pay it back all while in highschool and a crap job. worse possible time ever too. i was trying to afford my first year of college and my car broke down a few days before. i just remember being reallllly madd. but i would prolly join on again if i could remmeber the fee 12 months from signing up. unfortunatly they dont have any where i live now that im at college.
oh and that first guy makes it sound like a crazy horrible place. 1. i never went during the times they had pizza. not because i didnt want to, but because it was at weird times. 2. grape candy dosnt count as candy. its not good at all and i was never tempted to have it. 3. no one is ever escorted out of the gym, even if they drop a weight. its ment to make people who are out of shape feel comfortable. their comercials are like "if you eat steroids for breakfast this place isnt for you!" and stuff like that to not intimidate. and 4. the massage chairs and tanning were good free perks, not to mention you can bring a friend with the black card. so two people membership for 20 dollars. any gym where i live now is 60 -minimum per person, and may not even be 24hrs a day.0 -
I have never been but many of my friends have and they .. well .. had some horrible experiences. It is true that if you drop the weight to the ground this siren thing goes off. Eventually if you do it too many times during your membership they apparently kick you out.
Also, here they do not have an annual fee and they ads on TV are showing $0 enrollment and $10 a month for standard and $20 for black card with red light therapy.
Personally if they don't lock you into a contract, try it out for a month. I pay more for my gym membership but I felt comfortable in it. If I had gone to the other gyms that were much cheaper ... I would have saved the money but I don't think I would have gone as much because I didn't feel comfortable. And the with PF it is co cheap that it is usually packed around the clock.0 -

They have a sheet mapping out when their busiest times are. Mostly after work. It all depends when you go I suppose. I never have a problem.
It's clean, the machines are new and I feel very comfortable there. ^_^0
