I don't know why - but mine do, too. :)

This happens to me a lot. It's simply the pull of gravity, I think, since your arms are down at your sides (my assumption, since this is what happens to me). I just bend them at the elbows or periodically hold them above my head.

I'm sure there someone out there who has a better way to explain this physiologically.

That's a lot of water. But it's due to blood flow. When you walk, your heart pumps blood to your extremities faster. I imagine your feet would swell too.

Yup, it's gravity, I'm afraid. Try holding them up at waist level and pumping them as you walk like a power-walker or runner, and occasionally stretch above your head.

Mine do too! When it starts to bother me, I have to hold them up for a bit.

I think you explained it quite well. Gravity and also I think the swinging of the arms as you walk. Once I was walking with a friend and our hands started swelling so we raised them in the air for a while. A man walked by and said "No need to surrender, ladies. I'm harmless."

My hands always swell when I walk. I either put them up on my head or in the air in "surrender mode" for a bit to relieve it, but it goes away once I get done.

    you sure about that?

    there is a reason
    a) you buy running shoes a half size or a full size up
    b) you go shoe shopping later in the day

Mine swell too. If I keep my arms bent at 90 degrees while I walk instead of letting them hang down, it makes a huge difference and they swell very little. Otherwise, it's sausage fingers for me!

The swing of your arms pushes fluid down into your hands. It's pretty commonplace! When I hike, I use trekking poles and they seem to minimize the swelling.

My hands swell too. I find that when I get back inside if I run them under cold water for a minute it goes away pretty quickly.

Yep, normal. Hold your arms bent at a 90 degree angle and swing them every now and then. The hand I hold my dog's leash in never swells because I'm using it.

Mine swell in the morning when I wake up. I have read that it is because I basically chug water before bed because it is usually when I'm really thirsty.

My guess is you are retaining water.
