Extra skin from weight loss/pregnancy

I have recently lost a lot of weight, at least for me. I weigh less now than I did when I graduated high school even though I've had a baby now. At my heaviest, I tipped the scales at 221 pounds (the day my son was born.) I now weigh 142 pounds (I'm 5'5 by the way.) My body looks awesome, except for the extra skin I have that pretty much hangs off of me. I lost over 22 pounds in 8 weeks and I am sorely disappointed in how I look because of that extra skin. Does it ever bounce back? Please tell me I just have to be patient and that eventually the skin will go back, at least a little... Are there any men or women out there that can offer some encouragement?

It takes a lot longer for the skin to catch up than it does to lose weight. General consensus is, the slower and steadied your weight loss, the better your skin will look. Depending on elasticity, yours might snap back given some more time. I have some loose skin on my tummy from my pregnancies that isn't going away without surgery, but it is much better when I'm at my normal weight and doesnt really even bother me any more.0

Give it time, keep the area moisturized (try massaging in a quality firming lotion after showering), and keep working on your abs.0

Everyone is different. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. For some people the only way to get rid of it is through surgery.0

hydrate from the inside and the outside. Lots of water. Lotion with aloe or another oil. And continue to workout.0

Well...I don't know. I had three kids, with no problems. The fourth gave me extra skin, but it was still bearable. Now after 6...I have extra skin. If I stand up tall, I look fine, but as soon as I bend over it hangs.
I am using coconut oil, dry brushing my skin, and using jergens skin firming lotion. I just do not know if any of it is working.
Now, your skin will firm up some...but it may not be as perfect as it was before kids.
I DO NOT look at the skin and stretch marks as a badge of honor or a reminder of my kids....I do hate it, but I just do the best that I can. Stay lean and healthy and just look the best that you can look.0 -
postpartum girdles or belly bands!0

I still workout daily. My abs are rock solid and look amazing everywhere except at the bottom of my stomach where my "mommy tummy" is. I don't think it's fat anymore. I'm fairly certain it's just loose skin. It looks terrible when I bend over but looks pretty good when I'm standing tall. I just hope it firms back up soon.0

Much to my intense chagrin mine seems to be here for the long haul. I've lost a bunch of weight and gave birth to my beautiful daughter and while I don't have many stretch marks I have a crazy "mummy tummy" I'm honestly thinking I'll probably have surgery to remove the excess skin. :-(0

If you look fine standing up, then there must not be much loose skin, right? I look fine standing up, and have saggy/loose skin while sitting and bending over. It's not enough excess skin to make me want to go under knife. So I'll just accept it for what it is, and love how I look standing up.0
