I am 30 years old and I just got a polar heart rate monitor
My resting heart rate seems to be 85 which is high normal
When I was running today my heart rate was 180 when I was pushing it and 160 when I was jogging or walking I don't feel bad when I am exercising but my aunt was very concerned my heart rate was so high. Should I be concerned??
I also weight 176 I don't know if that matters or not
Any help would be appreciated
I did some research online but it just said everyone is different--
I have been working out for a few months now
Do I need to make an appointment with my doctor to discuss this???
Thanks

My grandmother died last week at the age of 81 of a heart attack so I guess this also raises my concern--
My resting heart rate always seems high??? Even when I was younger

It will get better very fast. Enjoy the high burn while you can, because you body will adjust quickly.

If you can run and not pass out, you are not hurting yourself. I will bump a thread with some good info!!

    sorry about your gma. :brokenheart:

again, the HR issues will get better very quickly. I was RHR of 90 when I started, now I am 58-60. Didnt take long to make a huge difference in my physical fitness.

    Good luck!:flowerforyou:

yeah, no matter how old or sick, their presence is gone and we are selfish! We want to touch them, and hold them.

    God Bless you:heart:

I'm 32 and my heart rate often gets up to 160 and even as high as my max. Remember even the estimates for your max HR is only an estimate. I don't run very often but occasionally i'll do 10 min on the treadmill and my HR starts out at 145 (this is follwoing a long workout) and slowly climbs so by the end its up to about 180. Its not a bad idea to kick your HR up to 80-90% of your max for a minute or two or even more-if your in relatively good shape. This is when you hit the anaerobic zone which can have very many benefits. How you feel is really what's most important. I don't think you need to talk to your doctor as long as your not feeling light headed and like you might pass out.
