Has anyone heard of Body for Life? Have you been or know someone who has been successful following this plan? Here is a link to the site:

Any feedback is appreciated!

I had a look at their sample weekly meal plan and it looked a little protein heavy - they seem to be advocating a slightly modified 6 meal a day plan (no proven benefits to that vs 3) and, surprise surprise, the 10AM and 4PM include 2 of their products.

From what I've seen there are plenty of worse ones out there but it sure looks skimpy in the fruits & vegetables.

For me, PERSONALLY, it looks too restricted as far as what to eat. If I am told what to eat and when, I go a little crazy. But the basic idea seems to be in moderation, which is dieting in general. Overall, it looks pretty good and standard, and if it works for you, more power to ya! :)

My sister-in-law is a huge proponent of Body for Life. She at one time followed it and she looked absolutely amazing! But, she's kind of one of those on-again off-again kind of people. Even though she's a believer, she has a hard time sticking to it permanently. What she likes most about it is she is allowed a "free day", to eat whatever she wants. This would not be a diet for me, as I have a food addiction. Those free days would send me into a binge. So, you just have to decide if it's for you. I believe that it's a diet that you should try if it appeals to you. If it doesn't work, then try something else.

For me, it's the S.O.S. diet by Dr. Surrell. It's about elimation of refined carbohydrates and sugar (S.O.S. = Stop Only Sugar.) and consuming 30 grams per day of fiber. Also, elimination of processed and "white" foods. This keeps my food addiction in check and is super easy. I don't have to count calories (but I try to stay within some limits on most days) but I still lose weight if I stick to his easy rules. It is definately a diet I can stick with because it's so easy - and following it ends up leading a person to healthy eating. Now, instead of white rice, I eat brown rice. Instead of mashed potatoes, I blend 50/50 cauliflower and white beans - top with a little butter and sour cream, and it's just like mashed potatotes. I eat Brown Rice pasta or whole wheat pasta instead of semolina. I eat Triscuits or whole grain Wheat Thins instead of chips or other crackers. I eat Hill and Valley sugar free or no-sugar-added cookies instead of regular cookies. I could go on and on, but honestly, I rarely miss out on anything, I just modify.

Good luck in your decision on Body for Life. it's a great diet plan. You just have to decide if it's for you!

I followed it about 7 years ago with really great results - lost maybe 35-40 lbs. I was feeling great! Then, alas, I pulled a disk in my back and was out of commission for a long time, and I also got really sick. I have thought MANY times about going back to it, just haven't done it.

Once I started, I found it fairly easy to follow. The book that helped me most was "Eating For Life". Awesome recipes and most of them are easy.

Good luck, and let me know how it works for you!
