I started taking meds for hypothyroidism a year ago. I also started MFP on the same day. I log my food every day and try to exercise regularly. I have not forbidden any foods but did stop eating soy because my doctor said it interfered with the thyroid. No magic really. Just try to stay within the limits set by the MFP program based on my BMR. I also eat back most of exercise calories on the days that I workout....I also always make sure to eat more than 1200 cals no matter what.0

Eat the right amount of calories. Move more. Talk to your doctor about Metformin.0

Metformin is not the answer for everyone some people have some really nasty side effects and you should not be on metformin for long because over time it does cause organ damage. One thing that has worked for a lot of PCOSers is limiting carbs and sugars.0

Metformin did nothing for me. Don't overdo the carbs and create a calorie deficit. Exercise your butt off. Soul Cysters has lots of information about PCOS but it can become overwhelming. Nutritious food and exercise is your best bet.0

If you take medication for thyroid make sure you take it on completely empty stomach. I keep a pill box and bottle of water on my nightstand so I take it before I even put on my glasses or turn off alarm. I didn't know this for the 1 1/2 years of being on my medication. As soon as my new doc told me I couldn't even take my other med with it because it is so sensitve and won't absorb properly if you take it with ANYTHING else, I started taking it correctly. 3 days later I had more energy. I didn't feel the need to nap which I had to do everyday forthe past 8 years before. Months later I noticed baby hairs on my head because my hair was growing better and not breaking so easily so it actually grows a little bit thicker and stronger.
By no means am I telling you you HAVE to take medication, but if you are or do, this tip will greatly help you.
I do recconmend following all your doc's advice and researching underactive thyroid online. You can see lists of foods to eat and to NOT eat that will help you. I have noticed my TH levels are better when I eat cleaner and not as much sugar and grease. Which makes me so pissy.
I have also had issues in the past that made me hate being a woman. I had to have surgery for cysts and endometriosis but don't know if it was PCOS.0 -

That's the issue with general advice. I've had no side affects from Met and not reduced my carbs. I eat around 55% but I eat low GI. Everone different even with the same condition ;-p0
