My first 10k

I'm running my first 10k this weekend, wish me luck. I'm pretty sure I've conditioned myself well enough to finish in under an hour, but I do have a question. A couple of hours after my run last Saturday, my right hamstring felt really tender. I've been taking Advil with ibuprofen for a couple of days, and haven't tried running on it yet. So, should I rest it all week? Maybe a light run?

Yay! Good luck! I'm trying to get the courage to sign up for a 10k. I did 5ks last year...we'll see.0

I've found that with running it is best to listen to what your body tells you, if you aren't having any pain, go slowly on it. If it hurts, don't push it. If you're really hankering for a workout, try the elliptical, it's really low impact and will definitely burn those calories! Congrats...I love running too. (2nd half marathon this sunday! )0

ooo, be careful that you break in your new shoes before running the 10k! if you don't feel comfortable running, take them out for a few walks or at least wear them around the house. blisters are no fun!0 -
DON"T wear new shoes for the first time in a race. You will not be comfortable. Wear your good old comfy pair that you have been training in.0
