I've got all my spring chicks now, and I can't wait 'til it's warm enough to move them outside! I chose three different breeds (but got all females), hoping that they'd complement one another well. They're all dual-purpose breeds, and I believe they lay brown eggs.

This little girl is a Golden-Laced Wyandotte:

The little penguin-looking peeps in the middle are black Jersey Giants (eventually all their feathers will be black):

And the ones with the white spots on the top of their heads are Barred Rocks:

My mother also got several new birds to replace her 3-year-old biddies who stopped laying. The grayish one is an Ameraucana (supposedly), the light brown is a Buff Orpington, and the black ones are Black Australorps:

Has anyone ever raised these or other breeds? Anyone out there raising turkey, ducks, or other poultry? I'd love to see the pics if you've got 'em!
