I feel like I've been working on my abs FOREVER and they look the same to me! I'm obviously doing something wrong if I'm not seeing any improvement! Anyway...I just wanted to hear some peoples routines and the results they've had? I'm looking for a little more definition and just don't know what else to do!

Its not just about the workouts though- You have to decrease your fat percentage to have visible abs--its also about the foods you are eating0 -
Do more cardio, then work on your abs.0
-
do you have fat on top of your muscle to get rid of first. That is my problem. Cardo is important to just remember that.0
-
What the person above said You need the core workouts to get the muscles, but you've got to do cardio to get rid of that stomach fat so the muscles you develop will show~
Also. If you've been doing core workouts every day, that might be a little detrimental. Muscles need rest time to heal and develop.
I felt the same way too when I was doing my ab workouts. I recently took a two week break though (which I don't actually recommend you do >__<;; I had classes to graduate..) and I actually think I see more definition now than I did when I was working out regularly.0 -
DIET and Cardio, thats the only way you're going to see those abs, you can do all the crunchies & situps in the world but until you get rid of that layer of chub-a-lub on top of them, they arent going to show!0

I agree Cardio does the trick, I also noticed that by doing Tae Bo really helped out a lot at times. Try that!0 -
hi there id say eating right and exercise i was and still a chup a lub but i do ab workouts m-f now with 10lb ball not the best results pictured of young abs but old guy here not too bad0

Fat loss of course, but a flat tummy is helped along by a diet that reduces bloat in that area - I find this helpful before we hit the beach - cut out sodas, diet pop, reduce salt, and go easy on the carbs (around the days you want to wear a bikini for example).
Genetics also dictates where your body fat is distributed, so you might need to have a lower body fat percentage to have visible abdominal muslces.
Good luck!

That's the thing though...I do cardio and I don't really have much fat to lose on my stomach...at least I didn't think I did! lol Is running good cardio? I just added the treadmill to my workout.0

Yup! I have a silly little thing I do before I have to go out in a bikini! It drops a TON of water weight and bloat though and makes the abs look fab!
Breakfast - low fat yogurt & egg whites
Snack - 2 oz low fat cheese
Lunch - 4 oz of meat ( I usually eat turkey slices)
Snack - veggies and ranch dip
Dinner - Chicken, green beans and a big salad
Desert - low fat yogurt
Works like a charm every time! Definitely for the short term tho. :bigsmile:0 -

Thanks for posting! Good ideas here - thanks also for pointing out that this is short term - for the day or two before the beach, right!
Iceprincess - Living in CA to you find there is a lot of pressure to be super fit? I love CA, and have been three times in less than a year - it would be a gorgeous place to live! Although everyone we saw was fit and gorgeous - no matter what age! You look great btw!

Aw thanks! Trying to get back to 135 pounds but I still have about 5/6 pounds to go! :blushing:
Yeah it's DEFNINTELY NOT a meal plan for the long term. It's not enough calories and kind of boring! But it gets the definition you want before you have a special event and drops a lot of bloating and water weight. I'm going to Vegas tomorrow night so this is what I'm eating this week! :glasses:
Don't be fooled, not everyone in CA is into fitness and fit! Because of the way I grew up and because I'm in sports medicine it's more of a requirement for me to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. We get a lot of older geriatric patients in the physical therapy clinic I work at and you can see a HUGE difference in the quality of lifestyle between the patients that are active in their 70's+ compared to the patients that are sedentary. They heal a lot faster when they are injured and generally have a better outlook on life!0 -

Have fun in Vegas!!! I come to CA for business, and it just seems that everyone I encounter looks so amazing! San Diego particularly has some lovely looking people! (I think being wealthy helps too!).

Wealth definitely helps!! Gives the ladies a lot of time to work on themselves! :laugh:0

If you can, try the Ab Ripper X (ARX) program from P90X. You can find home made videos on Youtube that will show you the routine.
It only takes 15 minutes, but is an amazing Ab routine.
I have been working out for 20 odd years and used to do crunches for 30 minutes at a time, but 3 months of ARX give me the best Abs I've ever had.
I finished the P90X program a month or so ago and I still do ARX. It may take you a while to actually do all the exercises and reps that they ant (11 exercies, 25-26 reps each) but keep at it.0 -
