Jumping jacks?

I read that jumping jacks are great for the whole body and makes you more flexible and you can burn 100 calories just doing 10 minutes straight. So I try it and I can't do more that a minutes worth without feeling like I'm going to pee myself. So of course I run to the bathroom, and nothing. What the heck?! Does anyone else have this issue? Should I just ignore the sensation, and keep doing the jumping jacks?

I can't really do them because of my knee issues, but I'm hoping that after I lose some weight I'll be able to do them again. Have you had kids? I've had 2 boys, and I know that sometimes I'll be doing something and it's like I have to pee when I really don't. Something about the bladder control muscles not being as strong as they used to be.
  • Why not go to the bathroom then try again.

I feel stupid now, for not even thinking of a panty liner or pad.
  • It sounds like your pelvic floor muscles may be loosening. To strengthen them, try doing kegel exercises. They're the muscles that contract when you try to stop peeing mid-stream. Good luck!

This happens to me all the time since I started working out again. I am doing kickboxing and we do a lot of HIT training too-jumping jacks, kicking, etc........This happens to women as they get older and have had a couple of kids. Wear a panty liner and go get your jump on! You could try to work in some kegels (sp) to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Imagine you are going to bathroom (#1) and you try to stop mid-stream. That is a kegel. Good thing about them - you can do them anyway!

Another point - I always empty my bladder before I work out. I hope this helps!

I always go to the bathroom, before exercising. I'm in my late 20's and no kids. I've never done kegel exercises either. Anythings worth a try, right.
