Hi all!I was just curious to know if anyone is taking extra vitamins or herbs,or other supplements to jump start their weight loss.I'm open to suggestions. Also how much below your daily calorie goal for weight loss is safe to take in,before your body starts storing fat? Thanks.

IMO you can't go wrong with some fish oil and a multi.

Second question....take your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and subtract 10-20%. This is about what you should be eating.

I take a daily vitamin, fiber gummies (yum!) , B12 drops and a shot of Aloe in the morning.... But I JUST started taking these vitamins this past week. That said, they are not specifically for weight loss, but rather for general health. But what works for me may not for you.

I am not into "weight loss supplements" really...I want this journey to be as natural as it can be.

You don't want to eat any less than 1200 cals a day. That said I don't think I would start that low with your intake... because then you have no where to go as far as changing it... unless you were to increase it.

  • There are dozens of supplements that are available but please, please, please talk to your doctor before taking anything. We don't know what could hurt you but your doctor will.

Do whatever you feel comfortable...That said a few weeks ago I hit a mini plateau after MFP reduced my calories to the 1200 range. Once I increased them I started losing again. So "if" you hit a slow point you may want to increase your daily intake.
  • Alright, I'm gonna get on my high horse for a minute......
I worked at GNC and saw people come in for diet pills....only to return looking for the next thing, bc the diet pills didn't work. They suck, don't take them. I used to see this from first hand experience.
As for supplements, like Jac said a multi and fish oil is great. Fish oils *can* help with appetite suppression as well...can bc it works for some people. Also, if you are running/jogging glucosamine and chondroitin help with your joints, etc.
Other than that, eat lots of veggies and get your nutrients that way!!
