I got a blood test done last week and they showed me to be anemic, although I don't have any of the classic symptoms like tiredness etc. I am taking iron supplements for the next 8 weeks as prescribed by the doctors but what types of food should I be looking at to improve my iron??

I'm anemic too, and my doctor said I should eat lots of green veg like broccoli and kale. Some breakfast cereals are fortified with iron, although these are often high in sugar.0

Iron rich foods:
Red meat
Egg yolks
Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards)
Dried fruit (prunes, raisins)
Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops)
Turkey or chicken giblets
Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans
Liver
Artichokes
I can imagine that a big salad made with spinach, hard boiled eggs, artichokes and other veggies would be delicious and really good for you.0 -
