Sort of an NSV though it has yet to affect my body.

I recently had my 3rd surgery in 2 years. Due to groin injury, I had little mobility for most of this time.

Over the past few weeks I have been diligently walking every day, in spite of getting my wisdom teeth out before I had even fully recovered from surgery + infection.

I quickly got to a point where I could walk further and for longer than I have been able to for the past 2 years, sometimes up to and over an hour of walking. So I started adding in a little recovery 'aerobics' routine that I made up after my 2nd surgery.

I did it for 10 mins, then 20 mins the next time, then I thought, you know what? I have seen the 30 day shred video and I reckon I can do it!

And I completed it with very few (appropriate) omissions or modifications! (bicycle crunches were totally inappropriate for a groin injury and will be for a long time)

I'm ready to really start losing the 10kgs left of what I gained during these two years. :D I am SO excited.

I have not been able to do crunches, lunges, squats, jumping - any of these things for the past two years. I was so happy by the end that I honestly cried a little.

I feel that this is a success because it is a direct result of my positive attitude toward recovery and willingness to push a little further (within reason) each day. Surgery was on the 6th of Feb, and the wound did not fully close until the 4th of March. I got my wisdom teeth out on the 9th of March, and got the 1% painful complication of 'dry socket' which was resolved on the 15th.

(in before... someone says I'm doing too much too soon. I'm not. I've done this surgery recovery thing a few times now and I'm very aware of my body. 30 day shred beginner's level is just that - for beginners. I won't be jumping up to the second level any time within the coming 30 days unless I truly feel it's appropriate, which I doubt. And I won't be 'pushing it right out' like she tells you to, haha).

I guess my other success story is that even while injured I never went over a healthy bmi. I came close, but managed to stop it with the help of MFP. Through counting food and exercise I learned that even with limited mobility, getting in 2 x 10 minute walks during my day, plus at least another 10 minutes of something as simple as playing wii boxing, it IS possible to stop gaining and maintain! 30 minutes is 30 minutes, so I worked 30 minutes into my day every day! :D

    You are doing great! :drinker:

I was super out of shape and hated exercising, but now with 1/2 month of 30DS (I am STILL on level 1 and do it about 4-5 days a week) and walking, I now look forward to exercising every day! And my muffin top is smaller and I feel so much better. I decided that I am going to do Level 1 for a month, then move up to Level 2 in April and try to master that within a month, and then do Level 3 in May. And then in June, I'll start it over with heavier weights,

I might not see the super instantaneous results that people post, but I have found something that I enjoy doing and I look forward to it. I can now do some pushups, and I am doing the advanced version of the squats and lunges, but the bicycle crunches are still a work in progress. So I am happy with what I am doing, and it is working for me!

wow that is fantastic! yes that is exactly my plan too! I love that it is adaptable according to the level at which you start. :)

so glad you have found something you enjoy and look forward to!

(i also love that I don't need to pay to go to a class to do it.... at the moment classes are definitely well beyond worth paying for because they are honestly rarely at beginner level, which I think is silly)

LOL, i have started with tiny 0.5kg weights, and hope to at least move up to 1kg soon since I managed to keep my arms in reasonable shape. It's so funny, my arms are like 'rawr, this is too easy' and my legs say 'whoa, steady up there, don't push yet!'
