Sick and calories

When you're sick or have a cold, do you go over your calories to help fight it off? My husband thinks you should and I'm just curious what others do. Both of us are sick right now and he's eating more than his calories but I'm trying to stick with mine.

Feed a cold, starve a fever... I'd just eat normally, not in a deficit but not "over" and make the food highly nutritious and full of zinc and plenty of plain fluids like water. Plus warm drinks so you're body isn't having to use too much energy to get it to body temperature!
Things like chicken broth and chicken soup are great as rich in zinc. Plus add more vitamin C to your diet to ward off FURTHER infection... it won't fight off the current infection but it'll help rebuild your immune system. Zinc, painkillers, normal food calories but make very nutritious, plenty of fluids. Boom.0
