Seize the day!

I am Amy Sales , 46 y/o female ,from Maryland, mother of a 14 y/o daughter and happy in a relationship. I am a clinical social worker at Johns Hopkins Hospital where I provide supportive counseling to patient's and their families (adult oncology). I am reminded each day that life is too short and to not put off for tomorrow what we can do today. With that comes the understanding that nobody can take care of me, other than me, and I have no right taking care of my own family and/or others if I don't take care of myself.
I am not saying that eating right and exercising are easy to accomplish each day. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it and we wouldn't have health issues related to being over weight in the U.S. I make a point to place myself on my "to do' list each day because it not only benefits me, but those around me as well. When I attend to myself, I have so much more to give in the long run.
I work in an environment where many sick people would give anything to be able to run, walk or even crawl a mile. Therefore, I am not taking for granted the health that I am afforded each day, knowing that it could be me who receives a life threating illness tomorrow. Seize the day , be happy and be good to others. It's all we have...
I wrote a book for Caregivers : "Walking on Eggshells", by Amy Sales. (when knowing what to say or do for someone who has a life threatening illness feel overwhelming and scary---on Amazon.com).
