Hello I've only started calorie counting 2 days ago so I am very new I have asked a similar question to this yesterday but didn't really get a reply so I run for 90 mins 3-4 days a week I also lift weights twice a week for an hour and bike once a week for an hour so I was wondering if I eat 1400 calories on the days I run then 1200 calories the other days also one day a week I am having a cheat meal so I would be eating 1600 cals roughly that day it would equeal 9600 cals a week is this ok will I still lose or does it have to be the same calories every day? Need to lose 50 pounds by august ambitious I know

Replies

  • i suggest that you try and keep your cals around the same each day and have either 1 meal or 1 day that's a cheat (still log though). keep up the routine of your jogging, weights and other excersise and you should see results.

if you put in the goal weight and how fast you want to lose it, MFP will calculate how many calories a day you need to eat, when you exercise it increases the amount for that day but if you keep close to the caluculated amount each day you should reach your goal. hopefully that makes sense

You will get mixed reviews on this I am sure.. But I eat back some(not all) of my exercise calories & I still lose.. How many pounds did you set yourself up to lose a week? I have mine set to a pound & I am okay with that. As long as your exercising as much as you are then I think you will be fine..Hope I helped.. Friend me if you need some motivation....

i think that you shoul log your excercise and go by what MFP is calculating, because if your not gonna follow what MFP says whats the point of being on here...... I personally eat about half back my exercise calories depending on if im hungry or not.

a good rule to go by is to take your goal weight and multiply it by 10, 11, or 12. The number that equals should be your daily calories that you aim for. So maybe a 10 on days that you don't work out as much and 12 on days that you do lots of running and working out. Also a good idea to try and eat lots of protein and very little added sugars. Hope that helps a bit.

If you eat those 1200 kcals without subtracting the cals you burn then you eat too few calories. Actually your BMR probably suggests for the intake to be more than the needed netto 1200. So yeah, honestly, I' m quite sure you should be consuming a bit more cals. :)

Eating most or all of your exercise calories will help you a lot. Without them, our weightloss will stall and you'll end up with loose saggy skin. You need those calories to support the exercise you are doing.
