Up all night...is it munchies or really using calories?

My work weeks are often 5 days + 1 night on the weekend. Often I do not sleep on that night, but stay up 24+ hours. I get HUNGRY. Am I burning extra calories or just getting the munchies? It can be very tough to stay to my calorie goal on these nights. Like tonight. (MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH). Anybody have a similar lifestyle? If so, how do you account for the extra waking hours and the associated food intake?

I know exactly what you mean about feeling hungry if you don't sleep... unfortunately I have not found away around it. Maybe go over on the day you are up for 24 h and but save calories from other days of the week to make up?

Lack of sleep increases the hunger enzyme gehrlin. You need to sleep to reset your body's chemistry. So that being said...it probably is hunger, but not a good kind
