Can I use my bodybugg to figure out how many calories to eat

I have a bodybugg and am thoroughly confused on how many calories I should be eating every day. I have been told anywhere from 1400 on MFP to 1900 using the TDEE-15%. I have a bodybugg and can't I just see how many calories I usually burn during the day and subtract however many from that? I just got it so I don't have a ton of information yet but I really am confused on what I should be eating. On a regular day of mine I usually burn between 2100-2200 calories and at the gym 2600-2700.

Any thoughts?

I'm going to bump because I have a Body Media in the mail. I think after wearing it for a week or so you can gauge how many you generally burn and then subtract your deficit. Looking forward to hearing the answers!

Use the bodybugg, take its reading subtract 500 from it and eat that amount.

Yes. The best thing to do is get an average base line for your TDEE, this may take a couple weeks. Take total cals divide them by the number of days to get avg cals burned/day, then make a deficit from there. The deficit could be 10-20% of the TDEE, or just a simple 500 cals/day to equal 1 lb/week. On days you burn more cals your deficit would be larger and days you don't burn as much you may not have a deficit, but for the week it would balance out.

Or if you know on workout days you burn 2600, you can eat 2200 (85% of your 2600) those days, and if days you don't workout you can eat 1800 (85% of 2100) or somewhere in the middle and keep your intake the same everyday.
  • I just use their website to calculate how much I want to lose by what date. Should tell you how many calories you need to burn a day and how many to eat in a day. If you have more questions, I can help ya.
