HRM and Body Pump?

I see a lot of people saying that an HRM will not be accurate for telling you how many calories burned when strength training. I was just wondering if the same goes for a Body Pump class or if it would give you a pretty accurate reading for that. Thanks

I use it during body pump.. you are expending energy.. why wouldn't it be the same as a cardio class?0

I think with the high reps in Body Pump, it should at least be CLOSE. I use mine and routinely burn 400 - 450 in the hour, since my HR is quite high. I think of it as strength-cardio.0

Since its a Cardio class with weights, the number of calories burnt depends a lot on your age and your heart rate, and how much weight you lift. It stands to reason that more weight = more calories
I am 41 and wear my HRM and burn anywhere from 450-600 during a class -0 -
I am 35 and average around 350 calories burned during my Group Power class using my HRM0
