My bmr is 1500 shall i eat below it to lose weight?

they say we should eat 500 cals less to lose a pound, im not sure hw this works i forgot! shall i eat 500 below my bmr or below what? i want a steady healthy weight loss im done with fad diets but im afraid i reach a plateau
any help is appreciated thanks.

    you need to deduct the defict from your TDEE, (total daily Energy Expenditure), not your BMR which is the amount of calories you would need to maintain your body if you were in a coma.

    No, your BMR is probably right around 500 cals below your maintenance. Go to goal and look at the top right, "calories burned from regular daily activity" That is you maintenance, eating 500 less than that will result in a 1lb/week loss. Just keep in mind that that number excludes exercise, so if you burn 300 cals from exercise you should eat those back to ensure your deficit remains at your goal of 500/day.
