I was just reading a couple topics on the message board and became interested in my BMR. I was unsure of what this was until I really looked at it. Now I'm just confused as to why I am only recommended 1300 calories a day if my BMR is 1600- am I over thinking this?

I have not experienced a significant weight loss. I try very hard to diet accordingly (my diary is open if anyone wants to give me some constructive criticism- although I accidentally forgot to track over the weekend-whoops)
I also actually like to work out...am I eating enough calories? If you have some insight I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!

Your diary is not currently open.

MFP does not pay direct attention to your BMR when it calculates your calories. It calculates your TDEE (based on a multiplier for your BMR) and then subtracts off calories based on your desired rate of loss. If you select a high rate of loss, it may very well go under your BMR.

If you are having success the way you are currently going, stick with it! Your BMR is going to change during your weight loss. I have my goal calories set to what my BMR would be if I was at my goal weight. Under my current BMR, but only by about 200 calories. Perhaps this might be better for you? I also have my goal macronutrient % set different from what MFP sets because I need to eat more protein and fewer carbs than what they suggest. But that is something I had to work out on my own!
