Sodium Affecting weight two days later?

Can sodium affect your weight two days after, even if the day inbetween didn't seem to be a problem?
I scale peeked this morning and it has me up about 3 pounds from my last weigh in on Wed. Saturday i had a can of soup for lunch. Sunday, my number was up about a pound. I drank a ton of water yesterday and did my run as usual. There is nothing really out of the ordinary on my food intake yesterday..
But this morning Im up a huge chunk..could the sodium 48 hours later be at play?

I am not sure about the sodium issue, but is it by chance the week of your menstraul cycle? I have seen many posts on here that women say they gain a couple pounds during their cycle.0

a high sodium diet can cause water retention which makes a person weigh more, but within two days I wouldn't think it would affect the number0
