Someone just died on one of my biking routes

Just saw in the news that a cyclist was struck and killed by a car last night in my town, along one of my normal cycling routes. It's a fairly busy road, but it is marked with numerous "Share the Road" signs and markings that bikes are on the road.

Please, everyone, remember to share the road, and pay attention - then everyone can go home safely at night.

And cyclists, remember to ride your bike like you are driving a car. Stay in the middle of the lane. You may get screamed at, harassed, honked at, etc. But its better that people see you to yell at you than they don't see you at all and you end up dead in a gutter.

Invest in brightly colored, reflecting vests.
In the Army, they called them Road Guard Vests. Neon orange and reflective. Lightweight.

I know this is totally serious and it's a sad thing for sure but when I looked at your title I thought it said "Someone just died on one of my BIKINI ROUTES."

Sorry for being so insensitive in advance. Can't help it sometime. :flowerforyou:

My cousin-in-law has been hit TWICE by cars while out jogging. People don't pay enough attention while driving.

Wow, thats so sad. I'm so scared to ride on busy roads, there's only one place I'll ride my bike and on weekends, I only get passed by maybe 3 or 4 cars.

prayers being said for all involved.

I am soooo thankful to live in a rural area, where traffic is a non-issue.

I think this applies for walkers/joggers/runners as well. I walk 6 days a week and BECAUSE I live in a small town people think it is okay to speed down any road that is not the main road that goes through town. I get over when I can, but sometimes there isn't a place to step off.
