I haven't ever really watched Dr. Oz show, but I just got DVR so I recorded it. Is he a big supplement/pill pusher?

Sounds like he's pushing more pills for his advertisers. I hear Saffron is good, but just add it to your food! Don't waste your money on all the pills he's pushing.

The only study I could find on it, funded by the patent holder.

Satiereal, a Crocus sativus L extract, reduces snacking and increases satiety in a randomized placebo-controlled study of mildly overweight, healthy women. Nutr Res. 2010 May;30(5):305-13.

He's paid to push whatever "diet du jour" is all the rage. An endorsement from him should always lead to scepticism.

And Dr. Phil is a *doctor* too, but I wouldn't go on live tv asking THAT GUY for advice about my life.
The fact that Dr. Oz pushes so many products and brands I might add, pretty much says a lot about him I think.

Yes, pretty much, that's what he's turned into. You'd have to spend a fortune to take everything that he recommends. I can't remember them all, but Saffron is new. You can add mango extract, raspberry ketones, um... relora, and half a dozen other things to the list of things he's touted.

I don't buy any of it. I really think he's all about ratings. He'll recommend any quick-fix that gets viewers, in my opinion.

A great idea for my new weightloss product.
Mellow Yellow, made of fried banana peels and nutmeg oil.
Take two every day, right before an hour of intense exercise, and follow my daily diet (included FREE), and you will lose weight!

I agree. Don't waste your money! Hispanic's use Saffron in many dishes. I being Hispanic use it in preparing chicken breast, yellow rice and so on. And it tastes great!

i never listen to Dr. Oz. i don't trust any doctor on TV unless i'm watching something like "Untold Stories of the ER" and generally they just say something along the lines of "if you have something impaled in your eye, come to the ER". so...yeah.
