So, I know this is old business and I feel slightly ridiculous asking this: is there a rule about how long after exercising you should wait to eat? I have heard do not eat for 30 minutes after exercising and I have heard that you should eat immediatly after exercising so which is it??!

have never heard not to eat after exercise, its usually an hr or so b4 exercise if its a largeish meal but its actually better to eat straight after to keep protein levels up, plus u burn off cals quicker upto 1 hr after exercising

If you're hungry, then a healthy snack should be fine. Low/no-fat chocolate milk is an excellent recovery drink also.
