Is there such a thing as too much protein?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a bit of guidance with what a "healthy choice" is with regards to daily protein consumption.
If my daily protein target is 65g and I hit that by say lunch, should I limit my protein the rest of the day? Is there such a thing as too much protein, even though I am balancing it against carbs and fat et al? What are the effects if say I had 100g of protein in a day when I should only have had 65g and everything else is closer to my targets?
