probably a daft question. I have museli for breakfast (sometimes with strawberries etc) lunch I have a large bowl with a mix of fresh pineapple, grapes, strawberry, kiwifruit, banana etc with natural yoghurt. Someone at work commented about the amount of fruit sugar in it... got me thinking... I also have fruit as a snack in the evenings.

How much is a good amount?

If you're losing weight, you're probably eating a 'good amount' for YOU.

the sugar in fruit is natural and unprocessed it's not bad for you, I honestly think you can't eat too much unless you are not losing then you'd need to look at your diet and see overall what you could change

It depends on what else you're eating. Many food guidelines will suggest 5 - 10 servings of fruits and vegetables per day (a serving is what will fit in your hand).

As long as you're not going over your total calories and you're not diabetic I'm inclined to think you can mix up those servings whichever way suits you best.

The downside of fruits vs vegetables is that fructose is a simple carb which gives many fruits a relatively high GI and your body metabolizes fructose somewhat differently than sucrose - it doesn't trigger that full feeling the same way (hence the big problem with processed foods containing high fructose corn syrup as a sweetener)

I used to eat 4 portions of fruit a day but found I wasn't losing any weight. I was also told by my doctor that I was eating too many portions of fruit a day. Now I have 2 portions a day ( berries in my porridge in the morning) and an apple/pear/banana at some point during the day while at work. This is working for me. I still have my 5 a day as I eat salad for lunch and some sort of veggies with my evening meal.
