Hey,
I work long hours and have trouble on the weekends with eating right and not snacking on bad things. I was wondering
If you guys could share some good easy snack ideas that I can take on the go so I am not tempted to go to the gas
station and get something because I am hungry!

Thank you all for your help and support!

Right now I'm really liking grape tomatoes with hummus, string cheese sticks, raw almonds, greek yogurt (especially with pb2, YUM), and almondinas for a sweet treat if they're available near you :)

    Will have to try that.

I made some low-calorie muffins that I froze in individual baggies, so I grab one of those sometimes. Pretzel sticks can be satisfying and are low-calorie. And nuts are a great snack. I bought some pre-packaged nuts. Of course that costs more, but it's so convenient!

agree @ raw almonds! I get mine at trader joes, 1 oz or so servings, 210 calories, no sodium. perfect snack!

I am a big fan of bringing fruit with me, or dried fruit if you are planning on keeping it in the car, purse, at work, whatever. And, trail mix is really good too, just watch for the sodium
  • Awesome! Thanks guys, I will give these a try. :)

I pretty much can't stand almonds, or greek yogurt. More power to those that do but I just...bleh... My favorite snacks are fruits and veggies. I cut up a big bag of carrots, green peppers, celery, broccoli etc. and put them in the fridge then I just throw an assortment in a bag on my way out the door and have something crunchy to snack on. Just don't put your cucumbers in with the rest of your veggies, they will make everything soggy. I even salt my veggies sometimes if I am really craving french fries. They are crispy, salty and way better than a serving of fried potatoes. Another of my favorite snacks is any fruit with low-fat cottage cheese. Cheese is always good for a boost. It's calorie dense so you don't need a lot. I also troll around the internet for "marathon snacks" there are tons of runners out there working to perfect their own natural and portable energy bars, just whip up a couple of those. My favorites are made with steel cut oats, dried cherries, honey, peanut butter, and maple syrup. Some times I swap out the dried fruit for dark chocolate chips for those candy bar cravings...
  • Awesome those are great ideas. I will try that out and eat more veggies :)
