I bought the Bird's Eye Steamfresh Whole Grain Brown Rice and I'm eating it but was wondering if anyone knew of a way to cook it or season it to make it taste better?

i found that replacing the water with chicken broth improves the flavor tremendously! whatever amount of water you need, use the same amount of chicken broth.0

I caramelize some onion and garlic then add that to my rice and broth in the rice cooker.0

I find that the type of rice makes a difference for me. I HATE long grain brown rice, but LOVE the taste of short grain brown rice.0

I use organic short grain brown rice. However, I don't do it in the rice steamer.
I put a tbs of olive oil in the pot, then add chopped garlic. Next, I add the rice. I keep stirring it until it starts to brown. This brings out a wonderful nutty taste of the rice. Next, I add some rinsed canned mushrooms (I love mushrooms) and continue to stir. Then I add the fat free low sodium chicken broth and let the rice cook for about an hour. I always use more broth than the directions call for because I make a huge batch and reheat it throughout the week.
Good luck!!!0 -
I have found that adding beans to your rice gives you your protein and then, for flavor, add salsa to the rice. I also add vegetable soup to rice (with the beans, any kind of beans cept Lima beans, separately from the salsa of course) and you have a great meal. Add maybe a slice of toast and you have a hearty, very nutritious and tasty meal.0

This sounds ridiculously delicious. Definitely going to try it one day, thanks!!0 -
Try putting different herbs or meats in the rice cooker, when you make it. For example, traditionally, a lot of Chinese people will put Chinese sausage in the rice cooker. It cooks both products at once, and gives the rice a slight sausage flavor. You can also try different herbs or veggies. My mom likes to put peas in hers. You can put ginger or other herbs to add a bit of aroma.0
