Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. Today is my first day. I have never tried weight loss before. I would appreciate any suggestions and support. I guess right now I would like to know if anyone has suggestions on how to cut down on drinking regular soda. I drink about 3 cans of Coke/Mt. Dew everyday.

I started adding Mio water flavoring to my water, and drinking my water ICE cold, and now if i want soda at all, I only drink diet caffeine free pepsi.

Hello Gina! Welcome to MFP. I have been on this site since June of 2011, My advice to seek out some motivating positive friends, which there are tons of positive people on this site. Studies show that you are more likely to reach your goals if you have a support group of friends to help encourage and motivate you along the way. I would cut down on the soda it is not good for you and it does add on the weight. I would start replacing a soda for a bottle of water and gradually cut down and before you know it you will crave water over soda. I have not had a soda since 2004. I would also suggest leaving your food diary open to the public, this way everyone can help you with your food intake. I hope you find all the encouragement and support you need to reach your goals.

I think I will try the MIO, I have always needed to drink my water super cold or else I won't drink it. I will need to be vigilante about making sure I have ice at work as that is where I drink most of my soda.

Thanks for your response. I found myself drinking more and more soda as my life became more and more hectic. I have decided to make life a little simpler so hopefully I can cut down on the soda. I think I would be way to embarassed to share my food diary as of yet. I am quite the perfectionist so to show how badly I'm eating would be really tough. I think I will give it a little time to get used to eating differently and then start to show it as a way to be accountable.

I add lemon juice and lime juice to my water, and on those days I want some carbonation, I will add it to some seltzer water.0
